NCCF establishes FUTURES Committee

NCCF Board Chair James W. Narron has convened a working group to study the future of the Foundation to ensure that we remain optimally positioned to meet the philanthropic needs of North Carolina’s people and communities.

Aptly named the FUTURES Committee, the board-led group will team several NCCF statewide directors as well as some outside philanthropic experts to analyze our strategic course of action.

“We turn 25 in 2013,” Narron said. “A quarter of a century is a milestone and provides a good time to pause for reflection to ensure we’re heading in the right direction and to make any adjustments based on our changing environment.”

NCCF CEO Jennifer Tolle Whiteside said the environment in which we operate today is dramatically different than it was when NCCF was created in 1988. Challenges include:

  • Increased competition in a changing economic climate;
  • Defining our focus for greatest impact;
  • Ensuring that our business model remains positioned for ongoing growth and continued success.

Narron is excited about the committee’s work and the Foundation’s potential. “Our board of directors benefits from the highest level of involvement in our history, and our staff has never been stronger,” he said. “We have the right people in place to help us meet these challenges and take advantage of opportunities.”

The committee’s focus will include:

  • Plan for sustainability, continued differentiation and operational growth;
  • Analysis of products and services to ensure we meet our state’s needs and strategic priorities;
  • Review of current and future fees, spending policies and revenue generation.
