Meet NCCF’s new team members

We are so pleased to present our newest team members! Left to right: David Ryan is our new chief financial officer, heading up Finance and IT. Anna Conway is a grants and scholarships specialist, concentrating on women’s giving and grants to nonprofits from donor-advised funds. Angie Brewer is our new regional associate for the southeast and a member of the Community Leadership Team, working out of our Wilmington office. February mailings heading your way

February means it’s time to communicate with many important categories of our constituents.

If you’re a donor-advised fundholder, affiliate grants chair, agency fund administrator or scholarship administrator, you soon will receive information on your fund’s ATD (“available to distribute” or grant) for next fiscal year, important dates and deadlines to remember and whom you should contact for more information.

February also is a month during which we send out quarterly fund statements to show how your fund has performed over the past three months, as well as information about recent market activity. This mailing also will contain information about your ATD and NCCF Notes.

The good news is that ATDs are expected to be up again in 2015, just as they were in 2014 for most categories of endowments administered by NCCF, according to John Hartley, director of finance and chief investment officer.

Community grants season begins in February

Community grantmaking begins in February for several of our affiliates and women’s giving networks and will continue throughout the year. Community grants cycle calendars are again available on our website’s community grantmaking page in two versions: both alphabetically by affiliate name and also by the opening dates of each cycle.

Affiliate grant amounts and parameters are posted on the affiliates’ respective pages on our website. Click here to find the affiliate serving your area, then click on Applying for grants in the left-hand column.

This is the fifth year that NCCF will provide an online grantmaking process for both applicants and reviewers. NCCF is now working with Foundant Technologies, a vendor partnership that proved dependable and easy to use when we introduced the process to affiliates during the second half of our grantmaking cycle last year.

Online tools for grantseekers and grant reviewers are available on our website. NCCF regional associates will again host grantseeker workshops in many counties we serve throughout the state. Look for these to be announced on our website, through social media outlets and also in local news media.

Scholarship season kicks off in February

Scholarship season also begins in February. Details, tools and application information link from our website’s scholarship page. Applicant deadlines range from February to early June.

NCCF is proud to administer the scholarship program on behalf of our fundholders. Last year we reached the $600,000 level in scholarships awarded, with about one-third of that going to first generation students, a niche we are interested in fostering.  We invite you to get to know some of our NCCF Scholars, profiled on our website here.
